Long story short, we hiked a somewhat strenuous (but fun) hike to make it to an overlook we could have driven right up to and parked at. I was not amused, but it was still a great view.

Frommer's led us to a hiking trail up the windy canyon road. We parked our Jeep (not that one), walked along a muddy trail, and crossed this makeshift bridge to continue. The Jeep in the backround was parked there, so we're assuming someone drove this far and decided not to attempt the drive across.
